  2. Obtain your Chinese visa
In order to obtain your visa, please print and complete GXNU’s application form, scan the form, and email the completed scan to tania@studycli.org. You will also need to complete CLI's Invitation Letter Form. You will then be provided with documents which you will need in order to apply for your X1 or X2 student visa.
Submitting the GXNU application form is simply a formality required by CLI’s university affiliate, Guangxi Normal University (GXNU), to issue you your visa. If you are viewing this webpage, you are already accepted to CLI and GXNU’s Study Abroad program.
Once you have the GXNU invitation in hand, please refer to and carefully follow either the X1 Visa Guide (for study terms of 180 to 360 days) or the X2 Visa Guide (for study terms of 179 days or less).  Visa fees are not included in CLI tuition.
  3. Complete CLI's Guilin Arrival Information Form
Included in your program tuition, CLI provides all students with airport, train station or bus station pick-up and drop-off. In order for us to greet you at your Guilin arrival location, please complete CLI's Guilin Arrival Information Form at least two weeks prior to your program start date. Please plan to arrive in Guilin the Saturday or Sunday prior to your first day of classes. CLI’s orientation program will be held Monday morning. From early September through April, if a guest room is available, you can reside in CLI housing prior to the Saturday (before your classwork begins) for an additional 100 RMB per night.
  4. Review your Pre-Departure Packet
In an effort to better prepare you for your stay in Guilin, CLI has put together this detailed pre-departure packet. Please review all information carefully and contact CLI at tania@studycli.org with any additional questions that you may have.
  5. Submit your program tuition
Full program tuition is due three weeks prior to program commencement. Please click the below link to use our secure and convenient online payment system (secured by Stripe) to submit your program tuition.

We want to hear about your experience learning Chinese (if any) and your goals for the future. Prior to your arrival in Guilin, please complete this pre-departure questionnaire. Use Chinese to answer these questions to the best of your ability. If you are just beginning to learn Chinese, feel free to use English!
  7. Complete CLI’s Dietary & Medical Form
Please complete CLI's Dietary & Medical Form upon reading this prompt. It is important that we have access to information regarding any medical allergies you may have or other medical considerations we should be aware of. Please also use this opportunity to inform us of your dietary restrictions (if any).
  8. Complete CLI’s COVID-19 Health Declaration Form
In order to enter various destinations throughout your travels in China, you may be required to provide information regarding your COVID-19 vaccination status. In certain cases, for example at some hotels, restaurants, and organizations, proof of vaccination may be required for entry. Please utilize CLI's COVID-19 Health Declaration Form to provide this information.
  9. (Homestay students only) Complete CLI’s Homestay Introduction Form for your homestay family
Within one week of submitting your CLI program deposit, please complete this basic Homestay Introduction Form for your homestay family. Your CLI homestay family is curious to learn basic information about their guests and is excited to meet you in Guilin soon!
