From the US or Canada, we’d start with Guangzhou, since it’s usually the cheapest and trains run all day. A ticket all the way to Guilin can come close in winter, but in summer it has cost far more.

高铁 gāotiě 高速鉄道

広州経由

広州白雲空港（CAN）に到着し、入国審査を受けて荷物を受け取ります。
広州南駅（广州南站）へ向かいます。ターミナルを確認してください。空港バスは午後8時ごろまでターミナル2と3に停まります。ターミナル2からは地下鉄3号線、続いて2号線に乗れば、約75分で着きます。
桂林行きの高速鉄道は、午前6時30分ごろから午後9時まで運行しており、所要時間は2〜3時間です。

西九龙 Xī Jiǔlóng 西九龍

香港経由

香港（HKG）に到着します。香港には独自の入境ルールがあるので、お持ちのパスポートに適用されるルールを確認してください。
エアポート・エクスプレスで九龍駅まで行き、通路に沿って西九龍駅へ向かいます。
慌てずにすむよう、列車の出発90分前には着いておきましょう。香港を出て中国本土に入る手続きは駅の中で行われ、国境の通過には思ったより時間がかかることがあります。
桂林西行きの直通列車は1日3本あり、午前10時02分、11時14分、11時52分に出発します。所要時間は3時間強です。

11時52分の列車に乗るには、午前8時ごろまでに到着しているのが目安です。それより遅くなる場合は、香港で一泊する、広州南駅で乗り換える、夕方の直行列車を調べる、といった方法があります。夕方の直行列車は、私たちが確認した時点では午後6時20分ごろの発車でした。

予約する前に

ビザが必要な方は、To-Doリスト（イマージョンプログラムまたは留学プログラム）に申請の時期が載っています。変更も払い戻しもできない航空券は、ビザを取得してから購入することをおすすめします。
イマージョンプログラムの学生は、最初の月曜日の授業の前の土曜日か日曜日に到着します。留学プログラムの学生は、To-Doリストで確認してください。
列車の切符は出発の15日前から発売されるため、先に航空券を買うのが普通です。購入にはTrip.comが最も簡単です。氏名とパスポート番号は、パスポートの記載と完全に一致させてください。
飛行機と列車の間は、少なくとも4時間あけてください。別々の切符の場合、飛行機が遅れても列車を取り直してくれる人はいません。
Going home, direct trains to Hong Kong leave around 12:40, 1:45 and 3:45 PM, so an evening flight can work, but a morning flight means a night in Hong Kong. We’ll drive you to the airport or station too, included in tuition.
