Pre-Departure To-Do List

1. (Parents & students) Review Your Program Packet

Please carefully review the CAIS 8th Grade Program Packet, which includes information you received at the CAIS Information Night in October, as well as updated information regarding Covid-19 and security protocols, chaperone teams, a preliminary packing list, and other useful information. We will continue to update this document in the months ahead.

2. (Students) Complete Your CLI Enrollment Form

Please complete your Enrollment Form by Friday, December 9, 2022. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears (or will appear) in your passport and select "CAIS 8th Grade 2023 Taiwan Program".

3. (Parents & Students) Complete Homestay Introduction Form

This is the information your host family will receive about you! It will also be used by CAIS and CLI to help pair families.

There are sections of this form for both students and parents. It should take 15-20 minutes of your time. Families will be notified of final placements approximately two weeks prior to departure.

4. (Parents) Complete CAIS Program Agreement

Please complete your CAIS Program Agreement by Friday, December 9, 2022.

5. (Parents) SUBMIT YOUR TAIWAN PROGRAM TUITION TO CAIS

Please submit your Taiwan program payment to CAIS by Friday, December 9, 2022.

6. (Parents & Students) Complete CLI’s Covid-19 Health Declaration Form

In order to enter various destinations throughout our travels, we may be required to provide information regarding your COVID-19 vaccination status. In certain cases, for example at some hotels, restaurants, and organizations, proof of vaccination will be required for entry.

Please utilize CLI's COVID-19 Health Declaration Form to provide this information by Friday, December 9, 2022.

7. (Parents & Students) Upload a Scan of Your Passport

Please use CLI’s secure Passport Form to submit a scan of your passport’s main information page by Friday, December 9, 2022. 

If you do not already have a passport that will be valid for at least six months after your program end date, please visit the U.S. State Department website  for instructions on how to obtain one.

8. (Students) Complete CLI's Tell Us Your Story Form

We want to hear about your experience learning Chinese and your goals for the future. By Friday, December 9, 2022, please complete CLI's Tell Us Your Story questionnaire. Use Chinese to answer these questions to the best of your ability.

9. (Parents & Students) Share traveler INFORMATION FOR EVA AIR

If you have a certain meal preference, EVA MileageLands number, and/or a United Airlines MileagePlus number (of which EVA Air is a member airline), please utilize the following form to share this information with CLI by Friday, December 9, 2022. We'll then update your round-trip international flight reservation with this information.

10. (Students) CONTINUE IMPROVING YOUR CHINESE!

Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, and a great selection of free Mandarin learning resources is available online.

Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with each of the resources mentioned in CLI’s online learning resources list. Remember that traditional characters are used in Taiwan!

Additional Program Information

Included in program:

  • Comprehensive pre-departure support
  • All activities and site visits listed in your program itinerary
  • Round-trip international airfare between San Francisco and Taiwan
