Pre-Departure To-Do List
Please complete your Enrollment Form by Friday, April 11, 2025. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears (or will appear) in your passport and select "HKIS Middle School 2025 Taiwan Program".
When completing your enrollment form, please note that your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months after our final date in-country. In other words, your passport expiration date should be on or after December 22, 2025.
This is the information your host family will receive about you! It will also be used by HKIS and CLI to help pair families.
There are sections of this form for both students and parents. It should take 15-20 minutes of your time.
Certain passport holders are required to obtain visas or entry-exit permits when traveling to Taiwan. Hong Kong passport should apply for a Taiwan Entry-Exit permit.
Upon receiving your Enrollment Form, HKIS and CLI program directors will contact you to provide supporting documents and further instructions regarding your permit or visa application, if required.
Note that citizens of the USA, Japan, many European countries, and other nations are visa-exempt when visiting Taiwan for up to 90 days and do not require a Taiwan visa for our program purposes. This form is only required of students under the age of 18 as of January 1, 2024. The Parent/Guardian Waiver Form ensures that CLI has the necessary consent and information to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all our students.

We want to hear about your experience learning Chinese and your goals for the future. By Friday, April 11, 2025, please complete CLI's Tell Us Your Story questionnaire. Use Chinese to answer these questions to the best of your ability.

Your CLI Program Manager will email you a detailed pre-departure reminders PDF two months prior to your journey that includes packing, weather, money, and health and safety considerations.
Be sure to review all information carefully and feel free to contact CLI with any additional questions you may have.
Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, and a great selection of free Mandarin learning resources is available online.
Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with each of the resources mentioned in CLI’s online learning resources list. Remember that traditional characters are used in Taiwan!
