Since opening its doors in 2009, the Chinese Language Institute has hosted more than 5,000 students from universities, colleges, professional schools, and K–12 programs around the world. They arrive in Guilin from different academic backgrounds and at every stage of life — undergraduates, graduate students, working professionals, retirees, and gap-year travelers alike.
What connects them is a shared decision: to learn Chinese not in a remote classroom, but through daily immersion in a Chinese-speaking city, surrounded by the karst mountains of southern China. The list below represents every institution from which at least one student has enrolled at CLI.

From leading research universities to conservatories, military academies, and international schools
CLI's flagship Immersion Program pairs each student with dedicated Chinese teachers for four hours of private instruction daily, five days a week. Students live in Guilin, practice with locals, and study in a curriculum tailored entirely to their level and goals.
Programs run on rolling admissions year-round, with terms ranging from two weeks to a full year. Most students represented in this directory enrolled through the Immersion Program — many returning for multiple terms.
