Since 2009, CLI has welcomed students from over 50 countries to Guilin, united by a shared goal: learning Chinese through immersion.
Since 2009, the Chinese Language Institute (CLI) has welcomed more than 5,000 students from universities, colleges, professional schools, and K–12 programs around the world. They come to Guilin from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds: undergraduates, graduate students, working professionals, retirees, and gap-year travelers alike.
What connects them is a shared belief that Chinese is best learned through daily immersion in a Chinese-speaking city. In Guilin, classroom study extends into meals, markets, taxis, parks, and everyday conversations. The list below includes every institution from which at least one student has studied with us.

CLI is an official affiliate of Guangxi Normal University, and students may earn university credit through GXNU for coursework completed at CLI
For students who want to pair immersion with academic credit, CLI offers a for-credit pathway through Guangxi Normal University (GXNU). As an official affiliate of GXNU, we facilitate this partnership and help students pursue university credit for coursework completed with us in Guilin.

Our flagship Immersion Program is built around four hours of one-on-one Chinese instruction each weekday. We pair every student with dedicated teachers, tailor the curriculum to individual goals, and surround the learning process with daily life in Guilin.
We offer rolling admissions year-round, with terms ranging from two weeks to a full year. Many of the students represented in this directory joined us through the Immersion Program, and many chose to return for additional study.
