We are thrilled to announce CLI is bringing its classic Immersion Program to Tainan, Taiwan, commencing with a two-week intensive term from December 28, 2022 to January 14, 2023.
Our winter program will kick off in Taipei with a 4-day introduction to Taiwan and its rich history and culture on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. We'll work our way to Tainan and begin our two-week intensive language portion in earnest on Monday, January 2, 2023.
As CLI’s core language learning track, the Immersion Program delivers 20 weekly hours of one-on-one Chinese language lessons and optional weekly cultural activities and weekend travel excursions. Experience complete Mandarin immersion in a comfortable environment designed to maximize learning speed and effectiveness.

Our Taiwan Immersion Program will commence in Taiwan's beautiful capital city of Taipei and conclude in Tainan, with airport pick-up and drop-off provided by CLI upon program start and conclusion.
Please complete the following steps in preparation for your journey to Taiwan. Feel free to contact CLI anytime during your planning process.
1. Complete Your Enrollment Form
Please complete your Enrollment Form by Saturday, October 15, 2022. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears (or will appear) in your passport and select "Taiwan 2022-2023 Immersion Program".
2. Secure Your Space in the Taiwan 2022-2023 Immersion Program
To reserve your space in our upcoming classic Immersion Program in Taiwan, please submit your 500 USD program deposit by Saturday, October 15, 2022 via CLI’s secure payment system (secured by Stripe).
3. Purchase Your International Flights
Participants should plan to arrive at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) anytime Wednesday, December 28, 2022 and depart from Tainan Airport (TNN) anytime Saturday, January 14, 2023.
You may also consider departing from Taipei Taoyuan International Airport and traveling there by bullet train in preparation for your return flight. CLI is here to help you coordinate as needed!
Of course, you’re welcome to stay longer and continue exploring Taiwan independently after our program concludes!
4. Share Your Arrival Information with CLI
Included in your program tuition, CLI provides all students with airport pick-up in Taiepi and airport or train station drop-off in Tainan.
In order for us to arrange your airport pick-up in Taipei, please reserve your international flights and complete CLI's International Flight Form by Saturday, October 29, 2022.
5. Review Important Taiwan Health and Travel Information
Please thoroughly review important travel and health information from the American Institute in Taiwan and US CDC.
As of September 2022, citizens of the US, UK, Australia, European countries and Taiwan’s diplomatic allies are allowed to enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 90-days. Review this list of visa-exempt countries to ensure that you’re currently eligible to travel to Taiwan visa-free.
6. Complete CLI’s Dietary & Medical Form
It is important that your program organizers have access to information regarding any dietary restrictions, medical allergies, or medical conditions you may have.
Please complete CLI’s optional Dietary & Medical Form by Saturday, October 29, 2022.
7. Complete CLI’s Covid-19 Health Declaration Form
In order to enter various destinations throughout our travels, we may be required to provide information regarding your COVID-19 vaccination status. In certain cases, for example at some hotels, restaurants, and organizations, proof of vaccination will be required for entry.
Please utilize CLI's COVID-19 Health Declaration Form to provide this information by Saturday, October 29, 2022.
8. Upload a Scan of Your Passport
Please use CLI’s secure Passport Form to submit a scan of your passport’s main information page by Saturday, October 29, 2022.
If you do not already have a passport that will be valid for at least six months after your program end date, please visit the U.S. State Department website or your country’s equivalent site for instructions on how to obtain one.
9. Tell Us Your Chinese Story!
We want to hear about your experience learning Chinese and your goals for the future. By Saturday, October 29, 2022, please complete this pre-departure questionnaire. Use Chinese to answer these questions to the best of your ability.
If you are just beginning to learn Chinese, feel free to use English!
10. Submit Your Remaining Program Balance
Full program tuition is due by Thursday, December 1, 2022. Please utilize our secure and convenient online payment system (secured by Stripe) to submit your program tuition.
11. Review Your Pre-Departure Reminders PDF
Your CLI Program Manager will email you a detailed pre-departure reminders PDF one month prior to your journey that includes packing, weather, money, and health and safety considerations.
Be sure to review all information carefully and feel free to contact CLI with any additional questions you may have.
12. Review CLI’s list of Online Learning Resources
Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, and a great selection of free Mandarin learning resources is available online.
Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with each of the resources mentioned in CLI’s online learning resources list. While traditional characters are used in Taiwan, you can elect to learn either traditional or simplified characters during your Immersion Program.
