Program Snapshot

Winter 2024 Taiwan Expedition students will gain a deeper appreciation for Taiwan and emerge with a greater understanding of Taiwanese history, culture and society.

  • Start Date and Location: Sunday, January 7, 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan
  • End Date and Location: Saturday, January 20, 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan (ask CLI if interested in extending!)
  • Destinations: Taipei 臺北  |  Tainan 台南  |  Hualien 花蓮

  • Program Fee: 3,940 USD plus international airfare (double occupancy; single occupancy available for an additional 1,200 USD)
  • Minimum Enrollment: Our Taiwan Expedition will run with a minimum of 10 and maximum of 15 participants; we encourage you to invite friends and family to ensure our group is between 10 and 15 participants!

Pre-Departure To-Do List

1. Complete Your CLI Enrollment Form

Please complete your Enrollment Form by Sunday, September 10, 2023. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears (or will appear) in your passport and select "Taiwan Expedition | January 2024".

2. SECURE YOUR SPACE

To reserve your space in our upcoming Taiwan Expedition, please submit your 500 USD program deposit by Sunday, September 10, 2023 via CLI’s secure payment system (secured by Stripe).

3. Purchase Your International Flights

Participants should plan to arrive at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) anytime Sunday, January 7, 2024 and depart from Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) anytime Saturday, January 20, 2024.

CLI will greet you at the airport upon your arrival and provides airport drop-off services up program conclusion.

Of course, you’re welcome to stay longer and continue exploring Taiwan independently after our program concludes!

4. Share Your Arrival Information with CLI

Included in your program tuition, CLI provides all students with airport pick-up in Taipei and airport or train station drop-off in Taipei.

In order for us to arrange your airport pick-up in Taipei, please reserve your international flights and complete CLI's Arrival Information Form by Sunday, September 10, 2023.

5. Review Important Taiwan Health and Travel Information

Please thoroughly review important travel and health information from the American Institute in Taiwan and US CDC.

As of June 2023, citizens of the US, UK, Australia, and most European countries are allowed to enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 90-days. Review this list of visa-exempt countries to ensure that you’re currently eligible to travel to Taiwan visa-free.

6. Complete CLI’s Dietary & Medical Form

It is important that your program organizers have access to information regarding any dietary restrictions, medical allergies, or medical conditions you may have.

Please complete CLI’s optional Dietary & Medical Form by Sunday, September 10, 2023.

7. Upload a Scan of Your Passport

Please use CLI’s secure Passport Form to submit a scan of your passport’s main information page by Sunday, September 10, 2023.

If you do not already have a passport that will be valid for at least six months after your program end date, please visit the U.S. State Department website or your country’s equivalent site for instructions on how to obtain one.

8. Submit Your Remaining Program Balance

Within one week of submitting your 500 USD program deposit, you will receive an email from your CLI Program Director with instructions for your remaining program balance. Full program tuition is due by Sunday, October 8, 2023.

9. Review Your Pre-Departure Reminders PDF

Your CLI Program Manager will email you a detailed pre-departure reminders PDF one month prior to your journey that includes packing, weather, money, and health and safety considerations.

Be sure to review all information carefully and feel free to contact CLI with any additional questions you may have.

10. Review CLI’s list of Online Learning Resources

Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, and a great selection of free Mandarin learning resources is available online.

Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with each of the resources mentioned in CLI’s online learning resources list. Note that traditional characters are used in Taiwan.
