Program Snapshot

Summer 2023 Taiwan Immersion Program students will gain a deeper appreciation for Taiwan and emerge with greater proficiency in the Chinese language.

  • Start Date and Location: Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in Taipei, Taiwan
  • End Date and Location: Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Tainan, Taiwan (ask CLI if interested in extending!)
  • Destinations: Taipei 台北  |  Tainan 台南
  • Primary Location: Tainan 台南
  • Program Overview: CLI's classic Immersion Program (but in Tainan, not Guilin)
  • Program Fee: 3,340 USD plus international airfare (double occupancy; single occupancy available for an additional 600 USD)
  • Included in Program: Airport pick-up and drop-off; comfortable, clean and safe accommodations in Taipei and Tainan; travel from Taipei to Tainan by bullet train; 40 hours of one-on-one Chinese lessons in Tainan; 24/7 support from the CLI team; welcome and farewell dinner; and more!

1. Complete Your CLI Enrollment Form

Please complete your Enrollment Form by Friday, October 6, 2023. Be sure to enter information exactly as it appears (or will appear) in your passport and select "Taiwan Immersion Program | Winter 2023-2024".

2. SECURE YOUR SPACE

To reserve your space in our upcoming classic Immersion Program in Taiwan, please submit your 500 USD program deposit by Friday, October 6, 2023 via CLI’s secure payment system (secured by Stripe).

3. Purchase Your International Flights

Participants should plan to arrive at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) anytime Wednesday, December 27, 2023 and depart from Tainan Airport (TNN) anytime Saturday, January 14, 2024.

You may also consider departing from Taipei Taoyuan International Airport and traveling there by bullet train in preparation for your return flight. CLI is here to help you coordinate as needed!

Of course, you’re welcome to stay longer and continue exploring Taiwan independently after our program concludes!

4. Share Your Arrival Information with CLI

Included in your program tuition, CLI provides all students with airport pick-up in Taipei and airport or train station drop-off in Tainan.

In order for us to arrange your airport pick-up in Taipei, please reserve your international flights and complete CLI's Arrival Information Form by Friday, October 6, 2023.

5. Review Important Taiwan Health and Travel Information

Please thoroughly review important travel and health information from the American Institute in Taiwan and US CDC.

As of January 2023, citizens of the US, UK, Australia, and most European countries are allowed to enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 90-days. Review this list of visa-exempt countries to ensure that you’re currently eligible to travel to Taiwan visa-free.

6. Complete CLI’s Dietary & Medical Form

It is important that your program organizers have access to information regarding any dietary restrictions, medical allergies, or medical conditions you may have.

7. Complete CLI’s Covid-19 Health Declaration Form

In order to enter various destinations throughout our travels, we may be required to provide information regarding your COVID-19 vaccination status. In certain cases, for example at some hotels, restaurants, and organizations, proof of vaccination will be required for entry.

8. Upload a Scan of Your Passport

Please use CLI’s secure Passport Form to submit a scan of your passport’s main information page by Friday, October 6, 2023.

If you do not already have a passport that will be valid for at least six months after your program end date, please visit the U.S. State Department website or your country’s equivalent site for instructions on how to obtain one.

9. Tell Us Your Chinese Story!

We want to hear about your experience learning Chinese and your goals for the future. By Friday, October 6, 2023, please complete this pre-departure questionnaire. Use Chinese to answer these questions to the best of your ability.

10. Submit Your Remaining Program Balance

Full program tuition is due by Friday, October 6, 2023. Please utilize our secure and convenient online payment system (secured by Stripe) to submit your program tuition.

11. Review Your Pre-Departure Reminders PDF

Your CLI Program Manager will email you a detailed pre-departure reminders PDF one month prior to your journey that includes packing, weather, money, and health and safety considerations.

Be sure to review all information carefully and feel free to contact CLI with any additional questions you may have.

12. Review CLI’s list of Online Learning Resources

Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan, and a great selection of free Mandarin learning resources is available online.

Please take time to review and familiarize yourself with each of the resources mentioned in CLI’s online learning resources list. While traditional characters are used in Taiwan, you can elect to learn either traditional or simplified characters during your Immersion Program.

Additional Program Information

Included in program:

  • Comprehensive pre-departure support
  • All activities and site visits listed in your program itinerary

  • 40 hours of one-on-one Chinese lessons between Monday, June 26 and Friday, July 7
