Study abroad in a place like no other: Guilin.

CLI students are curious, adventurous, and committed to learning Chinese. With one-on-one lessons, a welcoming environment, and support every step of the way, you’ll be amazed by how fast your Mandarin improves.

“I started from complete scratch, and now I can pretty comfortably get around China and have conversations with people. CLI is very good at making you feel at home quickly. Anything you might need is taken care of here.”
~ Blake G., CLI Student
Chinese Language Institute

A semester that moves your Chinese forward.

CLI study abroad students get the best of both worlds: full immersion through daily classes at Guangxi Normal University (GXNU), paired with highly effective one-on-one language instruction at CLI—all within Guilin's renowned, close-knit community.
Staying on track matters. Our team works closely with you and your university to make GXNU transfer credit clear, smooth, and stress-free.
Study abroad in China is a big step, and you're not taking it alone. From pre-departure preparation to daily life in Guilin, the CLI team is available around the clock on-site and virtually.
A full meal for a few dollars. A taxi across town for less than a coffee back home. Guilin's cost of living means your budget stretches further — so you can say yes to more weekend trips, more local restaurants, more opportunities to explore China.
Chat with vendors at the night market. Join a pickup badminton game. Get pulled into a dance circle in the park. In Guilin, community unfolds in the small, joyful interactions of everyday life.
GXNU is home to bustling student communities and friendly classmates from both China and abroad. Immerse yourself in a Chinese university environment through your classes, extracurricular activities, and dormitory life.
Weekend hikes through karst mountains. Calligraphy with a local master. Cooking class at the night market. At CLI, some of your best Chinese happens outside the classroom — and so do some of your closest friendships.
Guilin is a modern, fully connected city (think gyms, cafés, malls, universities, nightlife, and three bullet train stations) without the friction of China's megacities. The pace here is manageable, the cost of living is low, and the surrounding countryside is minutes away.
